MORE DETAIL
I work as Principal Consultant, Technology and Learning, Aquarians Management Consultancy (P) Ltd. My work-scope covers design innovation for technology in human learning, as well as research in pedagogy for technology enabled learning. My core competence – designing innovative solutions that are informed by research and attend to uncharted learning needs; moreover, learning solutions that integrate a variety of media and rapidly evolving technological scenarios. Innovation that solves human problems and meets business needs is my focus.
This began with India’s first interactive multimedia project funded by USAID, which brought me back from the US to India in 1990. Our videodiscs in water and land management training for agricultural engineers pioneered technology-enhanced learning in India.
In 1997 I joined NIIT Ltd’s Centre for Research in Cognitive Systems (CRCS), to start-up its Center of Competence in Multimedia. Later, I headed the Design Lab of the CRCS on innovation projects and research in the convergent areas of interactive media, learning design and cognitive science. My work has spanned children and adult users, targeting urban professionals as well as emerging/rural markets (among others…design for India’s 1st interactive multimedia project, video based programs, ‘hole-in-the-wall’ project, web design, web content, curriculum, courseware, learning management system, knowledge management system, virtual classroom…).
‘The Hole In The Wall’ project experience is internationally recognised and published. The Pompidou Center Paris, exhibited my work with French digital artist Pascal Monteil at ‘Design Aujourd’hui’ for 3 months (see Digital Art Project).
International collaborations include University of Newcastle (Prof. James Tooley and Prof. Pauline Dixon),Kaleidoscope Europe (Prof. Nicolas Balacheff, Prof. Ton De Jong), Laboratory Leibniz CNRS (Prof. JeanFrancoisNicaud), The French Embassy in India (Jerome Neutres), French artist and pedagogue (Pascal Monteil).
I serve on international scientific panels for technology enhanced learning. For research links see research and publications.
